During your train journey you can order food from Zomato: steps, facts and more

India Railways is known for its long-distance travel and its train catering services are not exactly known for always delivering the tastiest food. To make things better for users, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) offers e-catering service through Food on Track app that allows users to order food from available restaurants right at their seats.

IRCTC recently partnered with Zomato, the well-known food delivery app, to facilitate food delivery during train journeys.

With this, users can now order food from their favorite restaurant or food chain and have it delivered to their seat while traveling from the train.

But before you delve deeper into the ordering process, there are a few things you should know about ordering food on train with Zomato.

  • You need a confirmed ticket to order food from Zomato as you have to enter the PNR and train details while ordering the food.
  • You can order food in advance – 1 hour to 48 hours
  • Zomato offers users the option to cancel for free before 2 hours of delivery.
  • Zomato also tracks train status in real-time and gets food delivered accordingly

How to order food with Zomato during your train journey

  • Open the Zomato app on your smartphone
  • Search ‘Train’ in the search bar at the top
  • You will be asked to enter the PNR number. Enter this to continue
  • After this you will see a list of available restaurants
  • Select the restaurant, choose the delivery station according to your choice
  • Place the order by making the payment

Once the order is placed, Zomato will deliver the food to the selected seat and station.
