The Weeknd pledges $2 million to feed starving families in Gaza and more news – Socialite Life

The weekend has pledged $2 million for food aid in Gaza, where Palestinians are facing near-famine.

The United Nations World Food Program recently announced that a well-known artist has made a generous donation to cover the cost of 1,500 tons of fortified wheat flour. This amount is enough to make more than 18 million loaves of bread, which will feed more than 157,000 Palestinians for a month. The announcement was made via an official press release on Monday.

“As famine looms in Gaza, The Weeknd’s generous support will provide vital relief to thousands of Palestinian families who struggle against the grips of hunger every day,” said Corinne Fleischer, director of the World Food Program for the Middle East, North Africa and the East. Europe region, said a statement.

“We are deeply grateful for his contribution, compassion and for his continued advocacy for WFP and the people of Palestine.”
