What is ‘Dahn world’? Cult religious group BTS and Agency HYBE are said to be associated with it

Speculation is rife about a possible link between HYBE, BTS’s management agency, and an entity known as Dahn World, which has been described by reports as a cult religion. Other artists associated with HYBE have also been accused of being followers of the so-called ‘cult group’. However, HYBE has since released a statement denying it has any association with Dahn World.

Speculations are mainly supported by circumstantial evidence. For example, a song titled “Mago” by GFRIEND, a group managed by a label affiliated with HYBE, shares its name with a deity worshiped by Dahn World. In addition, six BTS members visited the Global Cyber University, founded by Lee Seung Heon, also the founder of Dahn World.

Min Hee Jin, the CEO of ADOR – a group affiliated with HYBE, held a press conference on April 25, 2024 and denied the accusations of having ties to Dahn World. She said the allegations were “simply misleading” and “different from the facts.”

“Hybe’s position is that none of these comments are true. It is simply misleading and different from the facts. Even within the actual hive, the general opinion is that ‘there are even absurd stories coming out,’” she said.

Min also addressed rumors of plagiarism in BTS’ concept and firmly refuted such claims. She also delved into the topic of military enlistment, offering her perspectives and providing anecdotes from her interactions with Bang Si Hyuk. She also expressed her dissatisfaction with HYBE’s public relations tactics.
