Alabama softball beats No. 3 Tennessee 1-0 in defensive battle

After losses to No. 3 Tennessee on Friday and Saturday, the No. 17 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide was able to salvage the weekend series and earn a 1-0 victory in Tuscaloosa on Sunday.

It was a defensive game all afternoon, but the Crimson Tide was able to break through in the 5th inning when Kristen White hit a chopper to the shortstop and was able to run it out as they drove in Kenleigh Cahalan for the only score of the game. Alabama pitcher Kayla Beaver was completely dominant as she gave up just two hits combined in her shutout performance and improved to 15-7 on the year.

Despite Sunday’s win, the series against the Volunteers marked Alabama’s third consecutive loss after falling short against No. 12 Texas A&M and No. 14 Arkansas the past two weekends. The ladies travel to Auburn next weekend for a huge road series with the Tigers.
