Defense Headquarters (DHQ) said at the weekend that the Duke of Sussex, a prominent member of the British royal family, is expected to meet Prince Harry and his wife with military personnel during his upcoming visit to Nigeria.
A statement signed by the Director of Defense Information (DDI), Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, said the royal couple will meet military personnel and be guests at a variety of cultural activities.

“The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) has expressed its honor and delight at the acceptance of The Duke of Sussex, His Royal Highness, Prince Harry and his wife, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan to visit Nigeria in May 2024.

“During their stay in the country, they will meet soldiers and participate in all kinds of cultural activities.
“We recall that Prince Harry, The Duke of Duchess, founded the Invictus Games, an international multi-sport event that provides a recovery pathway for injured, injured and ill men and women internationally,” the report said.

The statement read: “It also gives soldiers awareness and recognition in society to support their path to rehabilitation.”
The Invictus games had around 500 participants at its final outing and 21 countries attended, including Nigeria, which won gold and silver in its first outing last year.
“The visit is aimed at consolidating Nigeria’s strong hold on the game and the opportunity to host the event in future years.

“The Honorable Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Badaru, who was at the event in Germany last year, agreed to host the Games while it was awarded to Nigeria,” the report said.
