Turkey’s deputy foreign minister will take on a permanent role at the UN office in Geneva

Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Burak Akcapar will move to a permanent role as the country’s representative at the UN office in Geneva, Turkish state television TRT said.

Akcapar previously oversaw key aspects of Greek-Turkish relations and was involved in discussions with Greece.

He recently met Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Fragogiannis in Istanbul to discuss the positive agenda. Akcapar also took part in political dialogue talks with Greece in Ankara on March 11, led by Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandra Papadopoulou.

Burak Akcapar’s replacement has not yet been announced.
