How old is Johnny and where is he from?

Johnny was born on June 7, 1993, making him 30 years old.

He is originally from Galway and played for his local club Ardrahan from a young age.

When did Johnny make his senior debut?

Johnny made his first appearance for the Galway senior team at the 2012 All-Ireland Championship and was part of the county panel until announcing his retirement in 2020, aged 26. He was also a key member of the 2017 All Ireland winning side in Galway.

The hurler was an All-Ireland medalist in the lower division and won one Leinster medal in the upper division.

Johnny missed the entire 2016 season, but returned to the panel in April 2017 after traveling back from New York.

It was confirmed at the time that he would continue to live in New York, but would return if needed for games in Galway.

On 22 April 2017, he came on as a substitute as Galway won the 2017 National Hurling League. They defeated Tipperary 3-21 to 0-14.

Galway made history on September 3, 2017, when they won their first All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship in 29 years against Waterford. Johnny started in the match.

On April 13, 2020, he shared that both he and his then-fiancée tested positive for COVID-19. Later that same month he announced that he would retire from inter-county hurling.

However, four years later it was confirmed that he would return to Galway to take part in the 2024 All-Ireland Championship. To take part he will once again commute from New York.

Who is Johnny’s wife?

Johnny is in a long-term relationship with his wife Serena Walsh.

The couple got engaged at the end of 2018 and tied the knot three years later during a beautiful Christmas wedding.

Serena looked stunning in a stunning white fishtail dress with a v-neckline and long sheer sleeves with intricate lace details.

She had her hair in long, loose curls, with earrings and a flowing veil.

Johnny looked handsome on his big day in a navy blue suit, with a maroon waistcoat, gray tie and crisp white shirt.

Life in New York

Johnny said he went to New York for the first time on vacation in 2014 and fell in love with the place.

He moved to the United States with his then-girlfriend Serena shortly after the 2015 All-Ireland final, where they have since made a home for themselves, surrounded by family and friends.

“I came here on holiday two years ago and I loved the place,” he told The Irish Times in 2016. “I said if I ever get a chance to come out, I’ll take it. . . I’m only 22 and I’ve dedicated the last four or five years to hurling. I enjoyed it, but…

“Coming to Woodlawn where I live is like walking down Shop Street in Galway! I’ve had a brother here for almost four years, and he had laid the foundation for me – I came out with my girlfriend Serena, I have an uncle here, friends, the work has been great. . . If I walked away from that, I would be walking away from a lot.”

Johnny has embraced New York’s GAA culture and plays football there.

He reportedly works in the construction industry as an estimator.
