Mumbai Crime Branch detains actor Sahil Khan in Mahadev betting app case

April 28, 2024: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested actor Sahil Khan in connection with the Mahadev gambling app case.

The actor was arrested on Saturday in Chhattisgarh, where he had reportedly been evading authorities for almost 40 hours. His efforts to secure pre-arrest bail failed when the Bombay High Court rejected his plea.

Khan had reportedly fled Mumbai and was constantly changing his location to evade authorities.

The actor is accused of running a gambling site and promoting illegal gambling activities. His name surfaced during the investigation into the Mahadev gambling app case by the Matunga police in Mumbai.

The story began in December 2023 when the Mumbai cyber cell SIT issued summons to Sahil Khan and three others, directing them to appear before authorities for questioning. However, Khan failed to comply with the subpoena, prompting intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to locate and arrest him.

The alleged size of the scam is estimated at around Rs 15,000 crore, according to the first information report (FIR) filed in the case. Notably, one of the main accused, Ravi Uppal, was detained in Dubai last year by local authorities on the basis of an Interpol warning on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Sahil Khan, known for his roles in films such as ‘Style’ and ‘Excuse Me’, has moved into the fitness industry in recent years, working as a fitness expert and founder of Divine Nutrition, a company specializing in fitness supplements such as whey protein , creatine and muscle strengtheners.
