It appeared a pro-Palestinian protest was flaring up at the University Park Campus of the University of Southern California on Saturday evening, as Los Angeles Police Department officers from across the city were put on alert and the public was urged to avoid the area .

Saturday at 6:35 p.m., the LAPD broadcast that a Citywide Tactical Alert had been issued due to a situation in the area patrolled by the Southwest Community Police Department.

At 7:02 p.m., USC campus police issued the following warning: “Due to a disturbance in downtown UPC, please avoid that area until further notice.”

A USC media relations representative was not immediately available.
