The air is crisp, rays of sun are pushing through the clouds, peonies are blooming… and all across New York celebrity stylists are frantically running from atelier to atelier in preparation for the Met Gala on the first Monday of May.

The annual fundraising event is held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art in aid of its Costume Institute, the archive chaired by US Vogue editor Anna Wintour, which collects and preserves important pieces from the history of fashion and costume. The theme of this year’s exhibition, which will run at the Met in the weeks following the Gala, is Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
