New updates on Hyperia at Thorpe Park, opening May 24!

UPDATE April 27 – As we get closer to the official opening of Hyperia at Thorpe Park on Friday 24 May, it will be interesting to see the latest progress being made on site.

In the latest update that Jack Silkstone posted on YouTube, we get an update on the latest developments. During Hyperia’s first test run on April 16, the train climbed the lift hill at a speed of 0.5 meters per second. We hear that the train is expected to travel up the lift hill at a speed of 5 meters per second every day.

There will be four queues for Hyperia, including Disabled Access, Fast Track, Single Riders and then the normal queue. They will merge into two lines at the foot of the stairs, with the thinking being that there will be two lines going up the stairs, with some riders on one side and the normal/fast track on the other. Guests who cannot use the stairs will be directed to the left at the bottom of the stairs to access the elevator.

Lighting and audio will be added to the outside and inside of the station building. At 7:20 we see the progress being made on the splash down effect at the end of the ride, which is currently being worked on as the pumps are now being installed.

Work is underway on the Hyperia gift shop, which will feature photos from the ride and a slew of Hyperia merchandise. At 9.50am we get close-up footage of the second Hyperia train that recently arrived at Thorpe Park. It is currently still covered in plastic, but it is expected that it will soon be uncovered, checked and filled with water dummies so that testing can begin. We will then see Hyperia testing two trains on the roller coaster to prepare for opening day on Friday, May 24.
