Dhofar Municipality is inviting bids for the development of Shuwaymiya waterfront

Muscat grape – Dhofar Municipality is taking steps to boost tourism and domestic travel and is inviting bids for the development of the Shuwaymiya waterfront.

A spokesperson for the Dhofar Municipality announced a tender for the comprehensive development of the Shuwaymiya waterfront.

The project covers an area of ​​19,867 m², a surface area of ​​767.5 m², and aims to provide a range of amenities including event spaces, children’s recreation areas and a picturesque sports trail.

The official said the project will include a dedicated cycle track, ample parking, a prayer hall and toilet facilities. To enhance the aesthetic appeal and environmental sustainability of the area, approximately 268 trees will be planted.

Last Wednesday, HE Azzan bin Qassim al Busaidi, Undersecretary of Tourism at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, met with officials from the General Directorate of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar to discuss recent developments in the tourism sector.

HE Busaidi also made field visits to various tourism projects in the governorate and assessed the readiness of hotel facilities for the upcoming khareef.

According to data from the National Center for Statistics and Information, Dhofar received 962,000 visitors during the 2023 khareef, which lasts from June 21 to September 21. The year saw a significant increase in the number of visitors across all segments, including citizens, GCC visitors and tourists from other countries. nationalities.
