Due to potential safety concerns, RCMP asked the community of approximately 1,300 people to shelter in place.

RCMP arrived on scene and arrested the man before the shelter-in-place order was lifted.

Officers later conducted a search of the home.

A number of firearms were seized.

Marty D’or, of John D’or Prairie, is charged with, among other things, hostage taking, careless use of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, uttering threats, assault, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm while committing a criminal offence, and knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon.

D’or was brought before a justice of the peace and subsequently taken into custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 14 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Vermilion.
