Officers shoot and kill the man who shot at them, Knoxville police say

The shooting happened on the city’s west side, on the 4700 block of Santala Drive, at approximately 7:50 a.m. on April 27. Police have released only preliminary details, saying a man shot at officers and they fired in response.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was hospitalized with a gunshot wound. Police have not said how she was shot. No officers were injured.
