According to the press release, Great American Family has announced a new original holiday film, A Royal Christmas Ball (working title).

The film stars fan favorite Danica McKellar and Oliver Rice and will air as part of the network’s Great American Christmas 2024 programming event.

Fans have previously seen Danica in A Royal Date for Christmas and Swing into Romance, while Rice is known for his roles in Firefly Lane and Magic in Mistletoe.

In A Royal Christmas Ball, Chelsea Jones (McKellar) is a dance instructor and studio owner in Chicago. She loves inspiring children to find themselves through dance.

Shortly before the holidays, however, Chelsea finds a photo she has never seen before. She believes the young woman in the photo is her biological mother, who died when she was just five years old.

In the photo, the woman is wearing a wedding dress as she reaches for the hand of a man wearing a wedding ring. However, that’s all there is to see of the man Chelsea believes is her father. In addition, the photo features a handwritten inscription reading“Our home, Havenshire, December 23, 1984.”

With only the internet to help her, a plane ticket and a lifelong determination, Chelsea now has four days in Havenshire to try to solve the mystery of her birth family. Along the way, she sneaks into a castle, teaches a stubborn prince to dance and might just be in the perfect place on Christmas Eve when the bells ring.

Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media spoke about the new film, saying:

Royal films are among our viewers’ favorites. Finding love where and when you least expect it is the heart of royal fanfiction, and Danica and Oliver do a fantastic job of making heartfelt wishes come true.

“Oliver Rice exudes a boisterous Cary Elwes vibe,” said Danica McKellar. “Oliver grew up in London and graduated from the Oxford School of Drama and brings real nobility to the role of Prince Phillip. I can’t wait for fans to see him in the film,” she added.

Meanwhile, Brad Krevoy, Amy Krell, Vince Balzano, Danica McKellar, Jimmy Townsend, Susie Belzberg Krevoy and Don McBrearty serve as executive producers of A Royal Christmas Ball. Supervising producers are Michael Shepard, Kelly Martin, Michael Beard and David Anselmo. In addition, the film was written by March Holland from a story by Danica McKellar and Marcy Holland.

When will the movie premiere on Great American Family

So far, A Royal Christmas Ball is a working title for the film. However, it will premiere sometime in November as part of Great American Family’s Great American Christmas programming event.
