On Friday, Cypress County businesses, residents and representatives were at the county office for the third annual Connections Luncheon. “The Cypress County Connections Luncheon is just a new one-hour event where Cypress County and the region, businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs can network,” said Beth Cash, Cypress County Economic Development Officer. Participants had the opportunity to meet each other and exchange interesting conversations, as well as treat themselves to a lunch provided by a local company. Overall, the event is clearly similar to its predecessors, as Cash feels they found the perfect formula for the day early on. “It seems like it’s selling out faster and faster every year, which is really great, and we’re getting a lot of great feedback,” Cash said. “We are lucky that a lot of people come back, but also new people every time. So we are grateful for that.” Cash is grateful that businesses are receptive and taking the time to come to the event because “the whole purpose of the day is to give them an opportunity to connect and, ultimately, just to support the businesses we have in the region have to support. district.” The event attracted approximately 50 attendees, at a capacity of what the Cypress County Council Room can accommodate, from both a good mix of county residents and those from out of county who had purchased tickets for the opportunity to better serve their neighbors “It has gone very well, people also seem to appreciate the fast-paced networking activity and the opportunity to talk freely. We are working hard to create an environment that is not stressful so that people can talk to each other and being able to network independently,” said Cash. Plans are in the works to host another luncheon during Small Business Week later this year, among other opportunities Cash mentioned the newsletter she runs for provincial businesses, and encourages those who want to make connections within that community to sign up for news about similar events in the future 10
