Heat wave becomes intense in Rajshahi, Chuadanga, Pabna

A reprieve from the prevailing heat wave across the country is unlikely and the situation has become very serious in three districts.

A very severe heat wave is sweeping across Rajshahi, Chuadanga and Pabna, a periodic bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said on Saturday.

Moreover, Tangail, Bogura, Bagerhat, Jashore and Kushtia are experiencing severe heatwave, while parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barishal, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni and Bandarban districts are experiencing mild to moderate heatwave. and it can continue, it said.

The country’s highest temperature was recorded at 42.7 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga on Friday, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius in Srimangal on Saturday.

Meanwhile, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, accompanied by temporary gusty or showery winds, with hail at isolated places.

The weather may remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.

Daytime temperatures may rise slightly across the country and nighttime temperatures may remain virtually unchanged. The increase in moisture ingress may cause the discomfort to persist.
