HSSLC 2024 Science Stream Topper Narola Imsong credits her success to her faith and hard work

Narola Imsong, a student of Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung, is at the top

Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate Examination 2024 – Science Stream conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education. She scored an impressive 96.20 percent in the Class 12 exam, the results of which were declared on April 26, 2024.

Imsong, who hails from Yaongyimsen village, had previously secured the Top 14 position in the 2022 High School Leaving Certificate Examination.

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, Narola Imsong reveals that she chose Science Stream because of her desire to become a doctor, a choice she made when she was in class 9. Imsong is currently preparing for the NEET exam and said she is still hopeful and depends on her faith for success.

When sharing study strategies, Imsong admitted that balancing academics and extracurricular activities was initially a challenge, but she prioritized her goal and eventually found the right balance. She emphasized the importance of prayer and consistency, and attributed their success to divine guidance and hard work. She overcame challenges such as self-doubt and laziness and credited the encouragement of family, teachers and friends with boosting her self-confidence and motivation.

Imsong expressed her gratitude for the supportive teachers and mentors and emphasized the role of guidance and encouragement in her academic journey.

Narola Imsong shared her thoughts about her classmate, Imtisungkum Longkumer, who secured the Top 3 position in the same survey, said he is equally gifted, hardworking and resilient, admiring his dedication and perseverance. She said they had known each other since Grade 9 and was genuinely happy with his achievement, acknowledging the healthy competition between them over the years. Narola congratulated Imtisungkum and wished her best wishes for his future endeavours.

Yesterday, Narola Imsong’s family was blessed with another reason to celebrate as her younger brother Sunep Imsong passed the HSLC exam and scored a remarkable 92.3 percent. Congratulating her brother on his brilliant result, Narola said Sunep is a very hardworking person and his achievement is a moment of pride for her too. “Congratulations my dear brother, because you have worked so hard for this and I am very happy for you,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sunep said he draws inspiration from his parents and sister and they motivate him to strive for excellence. He expressed his intention to pursue Arts Stream despite scoring exceptionally well in Mathematics (98%) and Science (89%).

Rongsenwati Imsong, the father of the two exceptional children, emphasized the importance of guiding children on the right path and instilling the fear of God. Meanwhile their mother Atula Noklen emphasized the balance between academic excellence and leisure activities. Additionally, their mother emphasized that parents should be aware of their child’s abilities and provide support accordingly, acknowledging that there may not be specific strategies or tips to promote success.

Providing advice to aspiring students, Narola Imsong emphasized the importance of faith, perseverance and self-confidence, citing Proverbs 3:5-8 as a guiding principle. She added, “To all the students preparing for your HSSLC exams next year and also to my fellow juniors, always put God first and never give up on yourself. Even if others try to belittle you, you should not allow yourself to fall victim to their words.

You are capable of a lot and you do not lose sight of what lies ahead. Remember, you should not give up on your dreams and goals. Have faith in God and yourself. Don’t doubt your abilities, turn your weaknesses into your strengths. Never forget that your efforts will never betray you”
