David Kenneth Noland, Jr., a man of deep faith, passed away on April 21, 2024 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Born on February 1, 1949 in Gary, Indiana, David’s 75-year journey was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family and his scholarly pursuits in the field of theology.
David is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Brenda Noland. He was a devoted father to his sons, Galen and Taylor Noland. David’s memory will also be cherished by his brothers, James (Jean) Noland, Robert (Jane) Noland; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Donna (Robert) Josephson, whose memory remained close to his heart.
He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and later completed a Master of Arts in Theology. His professional life was marked by more than 35 years of dedicated service as a probation officer for the Federal Government of Canada.
David was an avid gardener, blessed with green fingers. His love for baseball, which began in his childhood cheering for the White Sox, continued in Canada as a fan of the Blue Jays. Those who knew David would describe him as outgoing and friendly, always chatting with the neighbors. He was a man of strong faith and served as an elder in the Alliance and Baptist Churches.
In accordance with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Steele Heights Baptist Church, 5812, 149 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5A 3A7.
