Messages of condolence are pouring in for author Motsoko

Cape Town – Messages of condolence are flooding social media platforms following the announcement of the death of renowned anti-apartheid activist and former leader of the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC), Motsoko Pheko.

Pheko died on Friday at the age of 93.

A statement on social media confirmed his death.

“The Pheko family would like to inform you about the death of our beloved father Dr. Motsoko Pheko. At 93, we are grateful to God for the time we spent with him; the love he so selflessly gave; including his vast knowledge as a renowned Africanist, lawyer, author, historian, theologian, academic and politician.

“We hope you can join us in solidarity at this time as the family seeks peace and quiet to reflect on this momentous occasion. The family is truly grateful for the love and support we have received and have received over the years.”

Pheko was celebrated for his multi-faceted contributions as a lawyer, historian, theologian, author and politician.

Pheko’s legacy includes a ten-year term as a PAC MP, during which he contributed to several portfolio committees.

His family has requested privacy during this time of reflection and gratitude for the outpouring of support.
