Phone smuggling operations busted in Hyderabad, five Sudanese nationals under the age of seventeen arrested

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police have busted an international smartphone smuggling and snatching gang in this connection and arrested 17 suspects, including five Sudanese nationals.

The personnel of the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, and Bandlaguda Police have seized 703 smartphones worth around Rs 1.75 crore.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner K. Sreenivasa Reddy told the media that the gang was busted while investigating a spate of theft and mobile phone theft in the city.

Police discovered that a large criminal network is operating in the city, involving mobile phone thieves, a large number of recipients of these stolen goods and also traders (both national and international) engaged in the unlawful transportation of these mobile phones from the city. the country to sell them.

Police discovered that several stolen mobile phones were also dismantled and the resulting components, such as the mobile screen, camera and speakers, are then used as replacement parts for damaged mobile phones received from customers.

All the suspects, including five Sudanese nationals, are residents of Hyderabad.

According to police, Mohd Muzammil alias Mujju, who is engaged in decorating wedding pandals, and Syed Abrar, a truck mechanic, with a desire to live a lavish life, snatched mobile phones by terrorizing passers-by during late night hours in remote areas.

They also used a motorcycle to snatch mobile phones within the limits of Bandlaguda, Falaknuma, Bahadurpura, Mangalhat police station of Hyderabad Police Commissionerate and Hayath Nagar police station of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.

Many of the suspects are cell phone technicians or have worked in such work in the past.

Two of the suspects had shops in Jagdish Market, Abids, where these phones were purchased at low prices by Sudanese national Khalid Abdelbagi Mohamed Albadwi and his associates, and the same phones were illegally exported via the sea route to Sudan, where they resold them. mobile phones for a huge profit.

The police have seized 703 smartphones from various brands such as Apple, Samsung, Vivo, RedMi, RealMe, Oneplus, Oppo and POCO.
