Norway Immigrants with permanent residency must be familiar with the Norwegian language – Investing Abroad News

Foreigners who have been granted a residence permit must have a good command of the Norwegian language. The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI), responsible for processing applications from foreigners wishing to visit or live in Norway, is updating the guide on Norwegian language training requirements for permanent residence.

Currently, the UDI Guide has not been updated regarding Norwegian language training requirements for those granted residence permits after January 1, 2021.

Such requirements for training in the Norwegian language will vary depending on when the residence permit is granted to the foreigner. It is the residence permit you received when you came to Norway, and whether you were over 18 at the time, that determines which training and testing requirements in Norwegian language and social studies apply to you.
