The residents of La Plana de Xàbia once again denounce the dangerous situation experienced by the Montgó Natural Park with regard to the condition of a light pole. This pole has been loose several times. The municipal brigade has been working on and strengthening a temporary solution, but the solution appears to be only temporary as the pole returns to its precarious state days later.

The wind or the instability of the ground cause the pole, because it is not properly supported, to lose its stability and create the risk of accidents and possible fire.

The neighbors assure that the complaint about this fact is persistent, but the authorities responsible for this action do not act. Neighborhood Association President Susana Ern explained that she has brought this issue to the council twice in less than a month. In fact: This medium already published this neighborhood complaint a few weeks ago.

«It is a constant danger, both for us and for the Nature Park. A spark can have disastrous consequences,” says a neighbor who is concerned about safety.

«The pole not only represents a fire hazard; Its location off the road makes the situation even more complicated. There is a real risk of large vehicles snagging the pole and causing further damage,” Ern noted.

From the Municipal Council of which will hopefully happen soon.

The electricity company in turn points out that “this line belongs to an individual, apparently from the shooting range”, for which they are also not responsible. Given these statements, residents of the area point out that “the pole is on public property. If it’s the one at the shooting range, it’s municipal.

In the absence of confirmation of the ownership of the pole and who should provide a solution to this problem, the residents of the area are asking for more maintenance and especially in this area of great ecological value and high risk, such as the Montgó Natural Park; “Sweep each other’s houses, and then the lamentations come,” say the neighbors.
