The Bologna data for January-March 2024 confirms the good health of tourism in Emilia-Romagna.

Attendance is growing of Italian and foreign tourists in the first quarter of the year, +9.9% compared to 2023 (+11.9% compared to 2019), and arrivals +9.3% again compared to last year (+5.4 % compared to 2019).

Foreign tourists continue to rise, +15.5%, with an increase of 13.3% compared to 2023 (+15.9% compared to 2019).

As a percentage, the art and business cities, driven by tourist destinations, weigh on the regional tourist movement for 43.6% of visitors and 47.6% of total arrivals, followed by the Riviera (31.8% of visitors and 27.9% of arrivals).

These are the main data from the report on tourist movement in hotel and non-hotel accommodation in Emilia-Romagna, collected by the Regional Statistical Office as part of the Istat surveys.

City of art and business
The number of visitors to the Cities of Art and Business is growing by +4.8% compared to 2023 (+13.7% compared to 2019) and the number of visitors by +3% compared to 2023 (+4.5% compared to 2019).

The coast of Romagna
The largest percentage growth is that of the Riviera, with a total presence (Italians and foreigners) of +25.1% compared to 2023 (+24.4% compared to 2019), while arrivals increased by +26.5% compared to 2023 (+ 23.7% compared to 2019).

Spa locations
The thermal resorts are improving with a visitor number of +7.6% compared to 2023 (-3% compared to 2019). The number of arrivals increased by +13.2% compared to 2023 (-7.8% compared to 2019).

Hilly locations and the Apennines
