Brown bear found near Mtirala National Park

Local residents stumbled upon a surprising find: a brown bear, near Mtirala National Park, a protected area in western Georgia, the country’s Agency of Protected Areas said on Saturday.

With the involvement of National Park rangers and State Sub-Agency Department of Environmental Supervision staff, the bear cub was transferred to the Batumi Zoological Park for further care.

According to the Agency, the cub’s return to the natural environment was dangerous because he was only one month old.
