BJP’s Tejasvi Surya is facing a case for allegedly seeking votes on religious grounds

Tejasvi Surya: A case has been filed against Tejasvi Surya, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Bengaluru South and sitting Member of Parliament (MP), for allegedly seeking votes on religious grounds. The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka issued a statement through microblogging website X, stating that Surya had posted a video on social media in which he was seen seeking votes based on religious considerations.

The case has been filed with the Jayanagar police station in Bengaluru and marks a significant development in the electoral landscape ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Response from Tejasvi Surya:

After participating in the voting process, Tejasvi Surya addressed reporters and commented on the electoral dynamics. He asserted that the Congress party faces significant challenges and may not win more than 30 seats in the Lok Sabha polls. Surya emphasized that despite the Congress party’s attempts to launch personal attacks and baseless allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, historical trends suggest that such tactics only strengthen the Prime Minister’s position and boost the BJP’s popularity.

Opposition candidate and voter turnout call:

In the Bengaluru South constituency, the Congress has nominated Sowmya Reddy as its candidate to contest against Tejasvi Surya. Noting an increase in election turnout among seniors, Surya encouraged young voters to participate in large numbers, emphasizing the importance of their involvement in the democratic process.

Tejasvi Surya’s plea for allegedly seeking votes on religious grounds adds a new dimension to the electoral discourse in south Bengaluru. As the campaign intensifies, both candidate responses and turnout dynamics will continue to shape the political landscape in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
