Local residents are invited to gather at Core Creek Park in Middletown Township for the annual Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 27.

The event promises a day of fun, education and enjoying the outdoors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organized by a partnership of local governments including Falls Township, Hulmeville Borough, Middletown Township, Newtown Township, Northampton Township and Bucks County, the celebration aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices, organizers said.

Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities and stands organized by local suppliers and organizations.

The event is family-friendly, with activities designed to engage visitors of all ages in environmental stewardship.

The Earth Day celebration not only provides a platform for community involvement, but also continues a long-standing tradition of advocating for the planet. The first Earth Day, held in 1970 and started by a U.S. senator, marked the beginning of a global movement. It led to significant environmental action, including the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the celebration of Earth Day by more than 140 countries around the world.

One of the largest Earth Day gatherings in 1970 took place in Philadelphia and featured speakers, performers and live music.
