Coconut Creek police are seeking video footage of residents in a sting investigation

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – Coconut Creek police are asking residents in four neighborhoods to share doorbell or surveillance camera video as detectives investigate a weekend stabbing that sent a victim to the hospital.

The stabbing happened Saturday in the area of Northwest 49th Avenue and 52nd Street.

The victim survived and fire personnel took him to Broward Health Medical Center.

Authorities assume that the suspect escaped into a nearby nature reserve.

On Friday, police, who said they have “developed several strong leads,” issued a plea for footage as they continue the investigation.

They are asking residents of Hilton Estates, Cypress Estates, Huntington and Breckenridge West to provide investigators with images taken Saturday between 3:15 and 4:30 p.m.

“We are specifically interested in any youth, or young people, who may have picked up your cameras that day, during that time frame,” police said. “Detectives have also gone door to door in those neighborhoods and continue to do so.”

Authorities are asking residents to email Coconut Creek Police Department spokesman Scotty Leamon at [email protected] if they would like to provide video.
