WASHINGTON DC (WSAU) – As November draws closer, voters across the U.S. are speaking out about their concerns about the issue of illegal immigration affecting communities across the country.

According to a recent Axios poll conducted by Harvard/Harris, 51% of Americans, including 42% of Democrats, support mass deportations of illegal immigrants, as do 68% of Republicans and 46% of independents. Another 30% of Democrats and 46% of Republicans also say they will end birthrightism.

Broken down by generation, 60% of Boomers supported deportation policies, along with 53% of Gen X and 48% of Millennial voters. In terms of race, 56% of white respondents supported the policy, while 45% of Latino respondents and 40% of black respondents said the same.

“I was surprised by the public’s support for large-scale deportations,” said Mark Penn, chairman of The Harris Poll and a veteran pollster for President Clinton. “I think they’re just sending a message to politicians: ‘Get this under control,’” he added, describing it as a warning to Biden that “attempts to shift responsibility for the issue to Trump will not to work.”

When asked about their top concerns about illegal immigration, Americans most often cited rising crime rates, drugs and violence (21%), increased spending on taxpayers (18%), and the risk of terrorism and national security (17%). .
