NSE U APRIL 24

Bangalore: A case has been registered against BJP’s South candidate from Bengaluru and MP Tejasvi Surya for allegedly seeking votes on religious grounds.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka issued a statement through social media platform X, citing Surya’s video of him allegedly seeking votes on religious grounds. The case has been registered at Jayanagar police station in Bengaluru.

After participating in the voting process, Surya spoke to reporters and expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects. He claimed that surveys show that the Congress Party may not win more than 30 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Surya slammed the Congress for resorting to personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming such tactics only strengthen the BJP’s popularity.

Sowmya Reddy is the Congress candidate contesting against Surya in the Bengaluru South constituency.

To encourage voter turnout, Surya emphasized the importance of democratic participation, particularly noting the increased participation of seniors. He urged young voters to exercise their right to vote and stressed the importance of registering their votes in the democratic process.

Today was the voting day for the 14 constituencies of Karnataka as part of the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, covering 88 constituencies in 13 states and Union Territories.

According to the Election Commission, there were over 15.88 crore individuals exercising their voting rights in the second phase.
