Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to show support for environmental protection.

It was first held on April 22, 1970 and now includes a wide range of events coordinated worldwide by EARTHDAY.ORG, including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

Many local communities host Earth Day events, usually during the weekends of April, before or after the holiday. The official theme for 2024 is ‘Planet vs. Plastics’.

Meanwhile, Middletown Township has announced that the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission’s “PHRC on the Road: Building Pennsylvania’s Beloved Community” event on April 30 has been canceled by the PHRC.
