Hengaw; Friday April 26, 2024

Mina Khajavi Ghomi, a 60-year-old Christian convert from Tehran, has endured her fourth month of a six-year sentence in Evin Prison, Tehran, while suffering from serious physical health problems.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Mina Khajavi Ghomi, despite her age and severe joint pain, is still being held in prison because she cannot tolerate the conditions.

Sources report that despite her increasing problems with walking and maintaining balance, this Christian convert has been denied both leave and medical care.

On January 5, 2024, Mina Khajavi Ghomi was summoned by the Department 1 of the Execution of Sentences at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of District 33 in Tehran for the execution of her sentence. Three days later, on January 8, she was arrested and transferred to Evin prison.

It is notable that she was previously arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in July 2020 and was temporarily released on bail later that month.
