USCIS begins the application process for the Citizenship and Integration Grant Program; details here

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has begun accepting applications for the Citizenship and Integration Grant Program, which provides financial assistance for citizenship preparation programs in rural communities. Applications must be submitted before June 21. This 16-year-old program will provide up to $10 million in grants to help legal immigrants naturalize and promote civic integration by improving their proficiency in English, understanding of American history and civics.

USCIS expects to provide $300,000 annually for two years to approximately 40 organizations to provide access to quality citizenship and integration services.

“To apply for this financing option, visit www.grants.gov. USCIS encourages applicants to visit www.grants.gov before the application deadline to obtain registration information necessary to complete the application process,” the notice reads. “The announcement of the application period for the Citizenship and Integration Grant Program is always an exciting time for USCIS,” said USCIS Director Ur M. Jaddou. “Through this program, we are enabling organizations to help legal immigrants pursue citizenship. Our outreach efforts this year are focused on ensuring that eligible organizations serving remote, underserved or isolated communities are aware of USCIS funding opportunities and that grant funds are helping historically underserved communities.”
