No sign of poisoning say doctors as they give Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi a clean bill of health

Doctors gave former Pakistani first lady Bushra Bibi a clean bill of health in the presence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and her husband’s trusted doctor Imran Khan, after a thorough medical examination.

Earlier, Imran Khan, who is still in Adiala jail, alleged that Bushra Bibi was given food laced with toilet cleaner.

According to a report from GeoNewsBushra Bibi, wife of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, underwent tests, including endoscopy, at a private hospital in Islamabad and stayed there for six hours.

The report stated that Bushra Bibi refused to undergo a blood test and did not provide a blood sample, but she did ultrasound, ECHO and ECG tests in the presence of Imran Khan’s doctor, Dr Asim Yousuf.

The medical reports showed that Bushra Bibi had only a minor stomach problem and the doctors approved all the former first lady’s medical reports.

The news agency said that in the reports that will be submitted to Dr. Asim, the prison inspector, and the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), it will be noted that Bushra Bibi refused to provide a blood sample.

Pakistan’s accountability court on Saturday ordered Bushra Bibi to undergo a full medical check-up at a private hospital within two days.

This was after Bushra Bibi moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) earlier this month demanding that her medical examination and tests be arranged at Shaukat Khanum Hospital or any other private hospital of her preference to investigate whether her food was poisoned/contaminated served.

Shaukat Khanum Hospital is owned by Khan’s charitable organization.

She mentioned in her petition that she suffered from heartburn and her throat and mouth hurt because she believed she was being poisoned by the meals served to her.

Bushra Bibi is currently imprisoned in Bani Gala – the 71-year-old Khan’s home in Islamabad – which has been turned into a sub-prison since she was convicted in the ‘un-Islamic nikah’ case in February.

She also alleged in her petition that she was subjected to psychological torture in the sub-jail.
