What you missed in fashion: LVMH Prize finalists and Samsonite and New Balance luggage collection

It was another busy week in fashion. We started the week at the end of Salone del Mobile in Milan, with the news that France will be cracking down on fast fashion brands. French designer Jacquemus welcomed two children into his and his partners’ lives and branched out into bridal wear within the same week. Louis Vuitton held their pre-fall show, and Westwood’s archive is being sold through Christie’s and now Cindy Sherman’s wardrobe is also up for auction.

Samsonite and New Balance Launch Second Drop in Luggage Collaboration

New Balance and Samsonite today released the latest version of their ‘Live Undefined’ luggage capsule collection. The four-piece collection is made from polycarbonate and includes a small crossbody bag and three luggage sizes: the Spinner 55”, Spinner 68” and Spinner 75” in a range of sporty neutral colours. The new collection features adjustable straps, double ball-bearing wheels and a practical interior with wet bag and packing bag.

Ralph Lauren debuts the Fall 2024 Home Collection at Salone del Mobile

Ralph Lauren’s latest home collection debuted this week in Milan during the annual Salone del Mobile. Inspired by Lauren’s car collection, the ‘Modern Driver’ Fall 2024 collection channels the sleek design, with sculptural furnishings in handsome materials such as burl wood and mahogany, polished stainless steel and carbon fiber pairing with the impeccable details of slatted mahogany and channeled leather to honor the style and elegance of car design.

SIR. opens their Melbourne Residency in Armadale

SIR. recently opened their first ever Melbourne residential store in Armadale, Victoria this week. The space features SIR’s signature elevated, minimalist interior. and neutral-toned furniture in travertine, stainless steel and suede.

Aimé Leon Dore launches a wave line

Cult New York City label Aimé Leon Dore has expanded into the golf world as of today, building on their existing production of high-end streetwear. The brand posted a teaser video on Instagram this morning and has uploaded a lookbook to their website that provides a few glimpses into the collection’s aesthetic.

Finalists LVMH Prize 2024 announced

This week, the eight finalists of this year’s LVMH Prize were announced, selected from a pool of more than 2,500 candidates. This year’s finalists are: Aubero, Duran Lantink, Hodakova, Marie Adam-Leenaerdt, Niccolò Pasqualetti, Paolo Carzana, Pauline Dujancourt and Standing Ground. Each year the award honors emerging fashion designers, as well as esteemed past winners such as Wales Bonner, Marine Serre and Peter Do.

New Balance relaunches the 1000 sneaker

New Balance officially announced the relaunch of their 1000 sneaker, originally introduced in 1999. Paying tribute to its futuristic roots, it comes with a streamlined silhouette, prominent overlay panels, segmented, sculpted sole and nylon eyelets. The 1000 is available for purchase now via the New Balance website.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and Gentle Monster’s New Collaboration Debuts

Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster, called ‘Jentle Salon’, released their third capsule collection this week in collaboration with K-Pop star Jennie. The collection has been hugely hyped online (you should really see the bizarre PR unboxing videos) and features glasses embellished with eye-catching charm designs.
