Max Verstappen reveals that the environment is now much calmer at Red Bull – “There is no reason to leave”

Ever since reports emerged of a power struggle at Red Bull, speculation arose about the future of Max Verstappen. The Dutchman has always wanted to concentrate solely on his job, namely winning on the track, but he found it difficult to avoid questions from the media about the unrest within his team. Some reports also pointed to an exit from Milton-Keynes for Verstappen. However, Verstappen had something different to say.

Verstappen remembers why he signed a long-term contract with Red Bull in the first place. He has been with the outfit all his life and insists he is happy with how things are going behind the scenes.

As quoted by Formula Passion, he said:

For me it is very important that there is peace in the team and that everyone concentrates on the single-seater and on the performance. Now I have the feeling that the situation is calmer than at the start of the season. After my first world title, it was not without reason that I signed a long contract with Red Bull. All I want is a calm and peaceful environment. But as long as I’m happy with the team, there’s no reason to leave“.

Max’s father Jos was one of the first to expose the tensions within the Red Bull team. The claims came days after Red Bull’s investigation into the Christian Horner saga concluded and authorities dismissed grievances against the British boss.

Jos Verstappen felt that Horner’s presence escalated the tension and that the team joined in “danger of being torn apart.” Jos did not hesitate to label Horner as the reason behind all the problems and was convinced that changes were needed, starting with the 50-year-old’s departure.

Verstappen reportedly sided with his father, with rumors emerging that the 26-year-old may be considering a move away from Red Bull. Since then there has been peace. Now Verstappen insists he will not leave the Austrian stable, but just a few weeks ago the Dutch driver was strongly linked to Mercedes led by Toto Wolff.

Will Max Verstappen still leave Red Bull despite Mercedes’ interest?

In his recent interview, Max Verstappen made it clear that all he needs at Red Bull is a peaceful environment. And now that things are calmer than before, Verstappen has no reason to leave.

There have been no recent reports of tensions within the Red Bull camp. As a result, Verstappen could decide to stay with Red Bull. But if he chooses to leave, Mercedes is one of his most likely destinations.

Team boss Toto Wolff is desperate to sign Verstappen and claims he would go as far as performing handstands to sign the three-time world champion. However, Wolff knows that it will not be easy to lure him to Brackley.

Verstappen currently drives the fastest car on the grid. Mercedes, meanwhile, is struggling to compete for the podium places. To fuel Verstappen’s ambition and possibly sign him, Wolff knows he must first build a car that can compete for the championship. As things stand now, Mercedes is nowhere near that.
