Manitowoc County will have a drop-off area for national Spring Drug Take Back Day this Saturday (April 27).e).

Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc will be the place where unused or expired medications can be safely and easily disposed of.

Director of Mission and Pastoral Care Roxanne Miner says you should empty the pills into a clear, sealed plastic bag before coming to the drive-thru event.

Collectibles include prescription and over-the-counter medications, ointments, sprays, inhalers, prescription creams, and even pet medications.

Do not bring biohazardous materials such as mercury, household hazardous waste, batteries, electronics, or personal hygiene products.

Miner says last year’s recipe collection was a record.

‘290 pounds of medicine from about 200 cars’ she tells Seehafer News. “This was an increase of £91 on the previous year. We hope to break our record again this year.”

It is important not to throw expired medications in the trash or flush them down the toilet as they can contaminate rivers and lakes.

The event is free to the public and will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine.
