Ashley Judd responds to Harvey Weinstein’s overturned conviction

After the disgraced New York film producer’s conviction was overturned by an appeals court on April 25, key figures in the #MeToo movement are speaking out – including Ashley Juddthe first actress to come forward with allegations against Weinstein.

“That’s unfair to the survivors,” Judd said The New York Times. “We are still living in our truth. And we know what happened.”

Another Weinstein accuser coming forward publicly: Katherine Kendaltold the outlet, “(It’s) a terrible reminder that victims of sexual assault just don’t get justice. I’m completely let down by the justice system right now. I’m a little stunned.”

Amber Tamblynanother actress who has been a leading advocate for the #MeToo movement also expressed her frustrations, calling the overthrow “a loss for the entire community of women who risk their lives and careers to speak out.”

“If anything good comes from this news,” says the… Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants alum continued, “I hope it reignites people and their passion to not just say they want equality, not just say they want safety, but actually work toward it.”
