The sneaker community (and even Jordan Brand) has been calling this release the “Military Blue” for decades. However, when the shoe was officially previewed on SNKRS Live in March 2024, the shoe was referred to as “Industrial Blue” and the familiar name was not mentioned. The shoes are currently labeled as “Industrial Blue” on SNKRS. However, the box label on the shoes clearly states “Military Blue.” Our theory on this name change is that Jordan Brand does not want to be associated with the term “military” and does not want to make light of current world events. Understandable move, but again, the box clearly says Military Blue.

The Air Jordan 4 is the fourth model in Michael Jordan’s historic Air Jordan shoe history. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 is best known for a number of striking details, including the mesh upper, eyelets, visible Air cushioning at the heel and the high tongue with the Jumpman Flight logo. Currently, the Air Jordan 4 is considered one of the most popular Air Jordan Retro models on the market.

The Air Jordan IV was released in 1989 and was produced in four colorways throughout the year. Following a similar range of color schemes as the Air Jordan 3, the Air Jordan 4 was released in two white-based Bulls colorways (Jordan 4 “White Cement” and Jordan 4 “Fire Red”), one black-based colorway (Jordan 4″ Bred”), and a version with white and blue accents (Military Blue). It sold for $100, making it one of the most expensive basketball shoes on the market at the time.

The Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” has been re-released twice so far as Retro. The upcoming May release marks the third overall Retro release and the fourth overall release including the ’89 original.

As previously mentioned, the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” was originally released in 1989. The very first Retro release arrived on September 9, 2006 with a retail price of $115. It featured a Jumpman logo on the heel, replacing the original Nike Air on the heel. This was largely due to Jordan Brand wanting to further distance itself from Nike and establish itself as a completely separate brand.

The next reissue arrived six years later, re-released on June 9, 2012 with a suggested retail price of $160. Like the 2006 release, the 2012 version used the Jumpman logo on the heel.

The upcoming May 4th release of the Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” will be the first Retro release to feature the Nike Air on the heel (see above). MSRP is expected to be $215.

ORIGINAL STORY April 20, 2023

Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” fans rejoice!: Rumor has it that the beloved sneaker will finally see a retro in Summer 2024.

If you’ve been following footwear for a few years, rumors of the return of the ‘Off White/Military Blue’ pair are nothing new, but fever over the original color scheme has increased exponentially over the past six months. Reliable early sneaker information channels @zSneakerHeadz on Instagram and Sneaker Files broke the rumor.

The last time the ‘Military Blue’ Ar Jordan retailed was in 2012. NIKE, Inc. released a modified Golf version of the model in September 2021, much to the disappointment of many enthusiastic fans. However, the next reissue of the pair is expected to feature a near one-to-one spec match to the 1989 debut. The shoe’s shape should fall in line with Jordan Brand’s ‘Remastered’ series, while branding on the back and outsole should read ‘Nike Air’. There’s no word on whether or not the sole units will feature a yellow tint for a “vintage” aesthetic, but sources say the Jordan 4 “Military Blue” will release for the whole family.

Please note that the return of the popular Air Jordan is purely speculative at the time of writing. The final version – if it even appears within the rumored timeframe – may differ from the initial mockups and unconfirmed descriptions. However, if the sneakers do release, they will definitely land on Nike SNKRS for $210 USD.
