Task Force Meeting on Tourism Development in North-East

The fourth meeting of the Task Force for North-East Tourism Development was held today in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by officials from all the northeastern states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. The other stakeholders included NITI Aayog, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and private partners.

The task force discussed the strategies along with the action plan for the comprehensive and sustainable development of tourism in the Northeast region through engagement with stakeholders, including those in the private space.

Previously, as a result of decisions taken at the meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Development of the North-East Region (MDoNER) in September 2022, the establishment of a Task Force for the Development of Tourism in the North-East Region was proposed. Accordingly, a Task Force was constituted under the M/o DoNER on October 20, 2023, with representatives from concerned ministries, state governments and other stakeholders.
