Bullying dog found decapitated, burned and dismembered near a children’s playground

A bully dog with its spine sawn in half has been discovered in a north London park.

The RSPCA has launched an investigation after the gruesome discovery was made by a dog walker at Lordship Recreation Ground near Tottenham at around 9am on Tuesday morning.

The animal welfare charity said the bully was cut into several pieces, mutilated and decapitated and set on fire.

Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Lee Ricketts said: “This was a very disturbing discovery. The dog’s body had been cut into several pieces, all its limbs had been removed, its head had been severed, and its spine appeared to have been sawn in half.

“It is believed someone attempted to burn the remains as parts of the dog and the grass around it were burned and there was an odor of burnt fuel.”

The dog’s body was found close to Walpole Road South Gate and could have been carried through with difficulty, or possibly driven to the site on Monday evening, April 22, or early Tuesday morning.

“I have examined the body but at this time there is no clear indication as to how the dog died. It was very clear that it had taken a significant amount of time and effort to dismember the body and transport it to the park,” he said.

The RSPCA said they were called to an assault on a large brown bull dog, which took place between two benches at the park’s Lordship Lane entrance at 4.20pm on April 17.

They are currently unsure if the two incidents are related but are appealing for information from the public.

Anyone with information about the dog or the abuse incident should contact the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
