The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday closed the office of Dream Pathway Education and Immigration Services (Dream Pathway), a consultancy firm that illegally offers jobs as an entry point to permanent residency in Canada.

DMW officer Hans Leo Cacdac ordered the closure of Dream Pathway’s Mandaluyong City headquarters and its three branches for illegally recruiting Filipino nurses, caregivers, nursing assistants and welders to work in Canada.

Dream Pathway’s three branches in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija were also padlocked; Apalit, Pampanga; and Lipa City, Batangas.

“Dream Pathway is among the unauthorized entities taking advantage of Canada’s immigration programs, used as a gateway to Canada for temporary work before achieving permanent residency,” Cacdac said.

“Apart from not getting proper license from the DMW, they charge exorbitant processing fees to hopeful applicants,” the DMW official added.

According to Cacdac, Dream Pathway offered several jobs in Canada but charged applicants P110,000 as professional fee under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) program.

However, Cacdac said that Filipinos departing for Canada under AIP will be required to undergo contract verification and documentary processing by the DMW as legal documentation for OFWs, either through direct recruitment or through a recognized Philippine recruitment agency, and no fees will be collected.

The DMW reminds everyone that all Filipinos bound for employment in Canada must undergo proper document verification and processing at the DMW for legal documentation as migrant workers.
