Lynk receives a DISA Sat2Phone contract – SatNews

This contract allows DoD, DHS and other U.S. government agencies to purchase commercially satellite2phone services for the next five years and includes an option to extend the contract for a further five years. Services available under the contract include text messaging, mobile emergency alerts and LynkCast weather and information broadcasting services.

The U.S. government is the world’s largest customer of commercial satellite communications and purchases these services through DISA. In 2022, DISA released a Proliferated low Earth orbit (PLEO) requested satellite services for the first time. Of the 20 companies that received DISA PLEO awards, Lynk is the only company to receive a contract for satellite phone connectivity.

Margo Deckard, co-founder and COO of Lynksaid, “Lynk will provide U.S. government agencies with access to life-saving emergency communications to assist the American people when terrestrial cellular networks do not exist or have failed. DISA and US Space Force will save lives through the Proliferated Low Earth Orbit (PLEO) contract vehicle.” Deckard added, “We are humbled to serve the people who risk their lives for the American people.”

Charles Miller, co-founder and CE of Lynk), said, “The US Department of Defense has been testing Lynk’s technology in practice for several years. We are very grateful for the confidence the Ministry of Defense has placed in Lynk with their decision to award us the first ever sat2phone contract.” Miller continued, “This contract will enable the nearly three million men and women in the Department of Defense to use the existing phone in their pocket to stay connected wherever they go. Whatever happens.”
