The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nkatiah, has warned individuals who believe they will become kingmakers in the next government.

Speaking to the party’s rank and file during the official running mate of flag bearer John Dramani Mahama, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), he advised persons who believe they will be the decision makers in an NDC government not to make such statements.

“Because we are convinced that we are there, many people have started taking positions and fighting over who will be what in the next government. Some people don’t just argue about the positions they will hold. They tell everyone else that they will be the kingmakers and that they will make deals.

“If we are not careful, it will dampen the enthusiasm and spirit of our followers. I want to assure everyone that we are not there yet. Don’t argue about positions or talk about who will make appointments. Let us all go hunting first and when we kill the game, we can now discuss about sharing the meat,” Mr Nketiah stated.

He advised that such persons should rather channel their energies into working hard for the victory of the NDC.

“We are happy that the polls predict a huge victory for us. But I would like to caution that poll results alone do not mean victory for any political party. I want us to guard against the risk of complacency.

“Let’s not create an image that we have already won. I want to warn everyone that we haven’t won yet. We are on our way to victory, but let us beware of complacency,” the NDC National Chairman indicated.
