Franciscan Health Michigan City’s free FIT-Together program, a family-centered approach to health and wellness, is back and open for registration.

The unique six-week fitness program is intended for households with children between the ages of 8 and 15. FIT-Together focuses on the well-being of each participating family member, including children, siblings, parents and parental figures.

The program explores healthy choices in activities, relationships and emotional health. Individual and family-oriented physical activities and tips for maintaining a healthy, active life with trainer Ron Gaston are included, along with cooking, meal preparation and sessions on understanding nutrition facts with Chef Nakia. Participants also receive weekly meal packages for the entire family/household.

Participants will learn the seven C’s of family resilience, including control, competence, coping, trust, connection, character and contribution.

FIT-Together takes place from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM Central on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 4 to July 18 (no program on July 2 or 4) at The Temple Total Fitness Center, 1914 EUS Highway 20 in Michigan City. Participants must wear comfortable clothing and sneakers during all sessions.

The program is made possible in part through a partnership between Franciscan Health Michigan City, General Insurance Services, Bowen Center, Kia Can Cook and The Temple Total Fitness Center.

The program is free, but registration is required. For registration and more information, contact Franciscan Health Michigan City Community Health Improvement Coordinator Nila Williams at [email protected] or (219) 283-9649.
