Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone are teaming up for the upcoming Hulu series based on a true crime. The show is called Under the Bridge and follows the murder investigation of Reena Virk. Talking about her role in the show, Gladstone revealed that she will be playing the character of a police officer, while Keough will be essaying the role of young Reena Virk.

Speaking to an entertainment portal, the Killers of the Flower Moon actress revealed that she was hesitant to sign the film due to its dark plot and that she had just come out of the Oscar-nominated film.

What did Lily Gladstone say about her day filming Under The Bridge?

Speaking to People Magazine, Gladstone said she initially planned to opt out of the film. The actress said: “At first, because I knew it was a real crime, I kind of leaned away from it, having just made Killers of the Flower Moon.”

She added: But when I heard Riley was attached, not just to act in it, but as a producer, that made me sit back. Because I wanted to work with her forever. And I wanted to work with her forever because she has those difficult conversations and she’s such a compassionate person. She uses her position in this world in a way that not many people do, and I really respect that.”

Speaking about what attracted her to the series’ story, the Fancy Dance actress said: “When I finally met Quinn and Samir, knowing that it wasn’t just Under The Bridge (by Rebecca Godfrey) that came from, that there was a deep delve into the memoir written by Reena’s father about what their family went through, about how they were treated by both the media represented by Rebecca and the police represented by Cam, the way Reena was dehumanized not only by the crime, but by the whole process of the trial to try to bring her justice.”

Why did Riley Keough find Reena Virk’s story personal?

Keough found Virk’s story personal because she has sisters almost Reena’s age when she was killed. The way the victim was bullied and eventually murdered by her acquaintances gave Riley chills.

In an interview with the magazine, Presley’s daughter said: “I have sisters that are the same age that I’m very, very close to, so it hits very close to home in that regard. The kind of things that they go through is It’s obviously not like that horrific, but the interactions, the bullying, all of that is still very much alive, and I think it definitely resonates with me when it comes to them.”
