AICPA is launching a registered internship program for financial business associates in Florida

AICPA and CIMA, which together form the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, today announced the launch of the Registered Apprenticeship for Finance Business Partners in the state of Florida. The program partners with the Florida Institute of CPAs and leaders in accounting and finance to improve Florida’s talent pipeline by providing instruction leading to a profession-recognized credential, on-the-job training and mentorship.

The Registered Apprenticeship for Finance Business Partners is the first program of its kind for accounting and finance in the country. It aims to build a pipeline of highly engaged candidates that allows employers to monitor and develop better-skilled employees for the long term. The program is based on the globally rigorous CGMA Finance Leadership Program, which has led to the award of the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) title.

We are excited to offer this pathway to improve the future of the profession in Florida.”

The growth of the program in Florida continues the rapid advancement of registered apprenticeship for financial business associates. “In Florida, we have partnered with FICPA to offer this pathway through our recently launched Registered Apprenticeship for Finance Business Partners. Since we launched the program in 2022, it has also been registered in the state of Maryland and has grown to serve accounting and finance interns in more than 15 industries,” said Joanne Fiore, VP – Pipeline & Apprenticeships at the AICPA & CIMA. “We are also piloting a youth apprenticeship scheme for secondary schools to attract students into the profession earlier and we have introduced a new entry level for chartered accountants and finance professionals, for those interested in further training but not yet ready to decide to become a financial employee. Business Partner and earn the CGMA designation.”
