SMC organizes a free lecture by inspiring speaker Dee Hankins

Drawing on personal experiences, Hankins emphasizes the transformative power of resilience to overcome adversity

Santa Monica College will host an engaging lecture with renowned inspirational speaker Dee Hankins.

The presentation, entitled ‘Life. Curveball. Home runs. Helping students focus on their resilience,” includes a question and answer session for the audience.

The free event, scheduled for Tuesday, May 7 at 11:15 a.m., will take place in the SMC Student Services Center, Orientation Hall (SSC 183), located on the main SMC campus at 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica.

Driven by a mission to convey the importance of resilience, Hankins aims to empower students to meet life’s challenges with strength and optimism. Drawing from his personal experiences, including 18 years in foster care and supporting his daughter’s battle against brain cancer, Hankins emphasizes the transformative power of resilience in overcoming adversity.
