Northridge Academy High School Among the Best Schools in LA Area: Rankings

NORTHRIDGE, CA – Northridge Academy High School is among the top public high schools in the county, according to a new ranking released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.

In the 2024 Best High Schools list, Northridge Academy High School ranks 56th among all 183 high schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District, 270th among all public high schools in Los Angeles and Orange County, 662nd ranks in California and at number 5,175 out of 17,655 nationally ranked schools. .

U.S. News determines rankings based on student performance in math, reading and science; pass rates; and taking the AP exam.

Northridge Academy High School has a 97 percent graduation rate and 34 percent of students have taken at least one Advanced Placement exam. The school’s proficiency scores in math and science are low: 14 percent in math and 24 percent in science, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Among Los Angeles County public high schools, two landed in the top 20 nationally.

Whitney High School in Cerritos is ranked 11th in the nation and first in the county. Science Academy Stem Magnet in North Hollywood is ranked 12th in the nation and second in the county.

Of California’s 1,652 schools, 121 ranked in the top 5 percent nationally, and 579 ranked in the top 25 percent.

State-by-state performance is based solely on which states have the largest share of schools in the top 25 percent. Massachusetts again leads the rankings, followed by Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland and Florida, respectively. California came 7th.
