Bollywood actor Imran Khan, in a recent interview, shared his thoughts on the current scene in Indian cinema. The actor believes that the way violence is depicted in films has changed. Instead of making the audience feel uncomfortable, it is now being glorified, Imran said.

Imran told Film Companion, “I have an idea of ​​where cinema is today. There is a glamourization, a fetishization and sexualization of violence that makes me uncomfortable. There is a way to portray violence. This is not a matter of morality. Violence and action are… it’s a language in cinema, but when we communicate it, when we portray it in films, there’s a way to do it where you feel the weight of it.

He went on to talk about how Joker as a viewer did the opposite. He recalled the horrifying stabbing scene and talked about how the intensity of the moment was palpable. The “crushing, brutal and gruesome” scene had left him shaken. He pointed out that this is what images of violence are supposed to evoke.
